Good morning, everyone! Well, today is the last day of the ButterBeeScraps 4 days of Christmas, and I hope you enjoyed the inspiration this week! These last two cards I made for my good friends Monica (scrappin4myboys) and Julie (thepaperbaglady) using the MME Lost & Found Christmas 6″ x 6″ paper stack.
Since this paper pad was not as wide as the mat stack I’ve been using up to this point, I made these cards just a touch smaller. I cut the “wallpaper” down to 4″ x 6″, so with the double mat, the final card dimensions ended up being 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″.
Here’s a look at Monica’s card:
When I think of Monica, I think “flourishy and blingy with a metal edge”. I’m pretty sure I accomplished that with this card 🙂 I started by embossing a flourish onto the “wallpaper” using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Angel Wings Gold embossing powder. This stuff is amazing and is one of my go-to embossing powders…it is mostly clear with a gold shimmer…YUM! The flourish was stamped using a stamp from the Tim Holtz Fancy Flourish stamp set.
I then stamped a Paper Trey Ink sentiment onto kraft cardstock and embossed it using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Midnight Bronze embossing powder. I cut the sentiment out using the Spellbinders Labels 45 dies and matted it by fussy cutting a background from black cardstock.
I used Monica’s favorite filigree – the Bronze Metal Filigree Embellishment (#540-B) – to frame the sentiment and added a few silver foil flourishes cut from the Tim Holtz Festive Greenery decorative strip die.
I had to add more metal to the front of this card, so I punched 5 holes along the bottom edge, and reinforced the holes with 3/16″ Bronze Eyelets. I then weaved some Bronze Curb Chain (#CH481-B) through the eyelets and joined the ends using a jump ring with a small bronze snowflake and jingle bell from the Jingle Bells Tibetan Charms Collection. I also left a little bit of length on the ends of the chain and added a short 3rd length of chain to create a tassel on the corner of the card.
The finishing touches for Monica were a no-brainer…bling, bling and more bling. Well, I didn’t get over the top with the bling, but I did add some SS12, SS16 and SS20 Vitrail AB Flat Back Glass Rhinestones in the upper left corner, on the tips of the filigrees, and framing the right filigree and label.
Here’s a look at the card I created for Julie:
I just love the earthy feel to this card, and if you know Julie, you will know that this card suits her to a tee! I used a Tim Holtz stamp from his Joyous Song stamp set to create the sentiment for this card, which I embossed using Lindy’s Stamp Gang Midnight Copper embossing powder. As with Monica’s card, I also fussy cut a mat for the sentiment.
On this card, I chose to add some twine under the sentiment, and added two clusters of embellishments on opposite corners. On the upper left, I added some small bronze and silver snowflakes from the Jingle Bells Tibetan Charms Collection. In the lower right, I started with a Bronze Snowflake Metal Filigree Embellishment (#203-B), layered a black chipboard “25” and scattered a couple more of the small snowflake charms. The “25” was die cut using the Tim Holtz Mini Reindeer and 25 movers and shapers dies, and embossed using Fired Brick distress embossing powder.
For the finishing touches on this card, I added two Bronze Corner Metal Filigree Embellishments (#807-B) in opposite corners and scattered more SS12, SS16 and SS20 Vitrail AB Flat Back Glass Rhinestones in the center of some of the small snowflakes and in the corners of the card.
I hope you liked cards #7 and 8 today 🙂 Thank you so much for popping by and I hope you have a great Christmas with your families! Cheers!
